The Optimal Blood Use website is a resource for improving the safety and effectiveness of blood transfusion in Europe. It offers indepth information in several languages on topics such as quality systems aimed at medical professionals involved in ensuring and improving the safety of of blood transfusions.
I was approached by a retired transfusion consultant who was looking for someone to maintain the original OBU website. I helped him migrate the original web site to a content management system (Drupal), and I have maintained the website since.
I ported the website, which was quite large, in about two weeks without any down time. The new website is easy to update, is better indexed by search engines and it is easier for users to browse and find information on the site. Moreover, the new site is responsive and adapts according to screen size, and it can be hosted on a minimal budget for posterity.
